Frequently Asked Questions

How many sessions will my child need?
This will be determined during the initial consultation and discussed with you in detail. As a guide most orthopaedic conditions require 2 – 4 sessions. Long term conditions require regular sessions but will be reviewed after no more than ten. Similarly, post-surgical rehabilitation will require more frequent sessions for a short period of time.

How long is a physiotherapy assessment?
Initial assessment usually does not exceed 60 minutes. However, if your child is tired an additional session may be required at your home or in the clinic.

How long is a physiotherapy treatment?
Usually one hour is required for children with neurological and neuromuscular conditions. Children with orthopaedic conditions need 30 – 45 minutes sessions.

How soon can I have a physiotherapy appointment?
We have no waiting list and we will aim to see you on the same day or within one or two days

If I fail to attend my appointment, will I be charged?
Please give us 24-hours notice and we will rearrange the appointment. If you need to cancel the appointment less than 24 hours beforehand you will be charged half. If you do not attend the appointment without notifying us you will be charged for the missed appointment.

Will you notify me of my appointment?
Yes. We will send you a text reminder 24 hours prior to your appointment.

What should my child wear?
Babies and toddlers: Will usually be treated in underwear.
Young and grown up children: Pair of PE shorts and T-shirt.

Please avoid jeans and tight-fitting clothes. Please bring your child’s usual footwear.

What should I bring with me to the physiotherapy assessment?
Please bring suitable clothing, medical reports, scan or x-ray reports, splints or insoles and comfort toys.

Do you accept private medical insurance?
We are in the process of registering ourselves with the private medical insurers. Please contact your insurance provider in the first instance.

Do I need a doctor's referral?
No. We accept self-referrals, consultants, solicitors, case managers and rehabilitation companies.

Do you work with other professionals?
Yes. We work with paediatricians, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and orthotists. We also work with solicitors, case managers and school teachers.
